The AK-47 is an assault rifle that appears in every SOCOM game with the exception of SOCOM 4: US Navy SEALs, although it was later included via DLC.
Background[]
The standard weapon of the former Soviet bloc since the 1960s, the AK-47 and its derivatives still provide for a tough, reliable-as-dirt infantry weapon, although it is not known for outstanding accuracy due to the wobble of its barrel when firing. Made largely of metal stampings and plywood, it is easy and cheap to produce in large numbers and has been copied more than any other design.
A long-standing myth regarding the AK-47 is that it was based on the German StG-44, developed in the waning years of World War II and widely considered to be the first assault rifle; this is untrue, because the AK-47 and StG-44 have different operating principles.

- Ammunition can be acquired in almost every mission, reducing need for the Extra Ammo accessory.
Disadvantages[]
- Low accuracy compared to other assault rifles like the M16A2 and M4A1.
