The M16A2 is a standard assault rifle and a popular choice in the SOCOM game series.

The M16A2 is a variant of the M16 rifle family, like the M4A1, it can be fed with 30 rounds, it is the weapon with only a 3-round burst option. Armies across the world use this, and the main rival of this is the AK-47.
Advantages[edit | edit source]
- Can share ammo with the M4A1 and other 5.56mm weapons
- Same customization options as the M4A1
- Perfect for sniping
- Controllable ROF
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
- Ammo is scarce
- Not good for CQB
- No full auto firing option

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The M16A2 in the original SOCOM: US Navy SEALs was apparently modeled on the preceding Vietnam War-era M16A1, as notable by its triangular handguard. This error was corrected in the sequel, SOCOM II: US Navy SEALs, where the rifle was modeled with the correct cylindrical handguard.
